There are plenty of options available for enhancing your curves. When it comes to enhancing the shapeliness of the buttocks, some patients consider getting artificial implants. There is an alternative, however, and it's known as a Brazilian butt lift. The surgery uses a patient's own body fat to achieve the desired cosmetic changes. Liposuction is performed in one part of the body and the fat is then transferred to the buttocks through carefully placed injections. The transferred fat adds volume, enhances curves, and allows patients to feel great about their figures.
Dr. Griffin is well known for his experience in the fat grafting and fat transfer procedures. He is one of the first surgeons in the Bay Area to do higher volume fat grafting. To find out if you are a good candidate for a Brazilian butt lift, contact Dr. John Griffin’s San Mateo, CA practice today.
Brazilian Butt Lift Candidates
Candidates for Brazilian butt lift include patients that would like to enhance the shape and prominence of their buttocks. They should have some excess body fat that they would like to get rid of, allowing a surgeon to harvest fat for the injections. Common areas that liposuction can be performed on include:
- The abdominal area
- The flanks
- The lower back
- The thighs
In essence, the Brazilian butt lift allows patients to experience the benefits of liposuction in addition to the butt lift itself.
The ideal location for the fat removal and the amount of fat removed varies from patient to patient. A surgeon will assess the patient's appearance and then make a determination based on his or her needs.
Brazilian Butt Lift Procedure
The first step of the Brazilian butt lift procedure is performing liposuction to harvest fat. Once the fat has been suctioned from the designated area or areas of the body, it then needs to be processed for the injection. Only the best of the fat cells will be used during the injection process.
When the body fat is processed and ready, a surgeon can then inject this select body fat into the buttocks. Multiple injections are carefully placed in order to evenly distribute the fat toward the goals of symmetry and a natural enhancement.
Brazilian Butt Lift Recovery
After undergoing a Brazilian butt lift, it's important that patients get ample rest. It's recommended that patients take two weeks off from work in order to recover properly. Strenuous physical activity, heavy lifting, bending over, or squatting should be avoided as well to prevent discomfort and complications. Post-operative walking is important, however.
Patients should avoid sitting down directly on their buttocks for three weeks. This helps prevent pain while also ensuring proper cosmetic results are achieved once healing is complete. More detailed instructions for post-operative care will be provided during the consultation process.
Brazilian butt lift patients will generally be able to resume normal activities by the end of a month. Follow up visits will be scheduled after surgery to monitor the patient’s healing process.
Brazilian Butt Lift Side Effects
The side effects of a Brazilian butt lift are similar to those of other body contouring procedures. This includes:
- Pain and soreness
- Bruising
- Swelling
- Numbness
- Redness or discoloration
The above side effects are temporary, and patients will notice improvements in these side effects as they heal. By the end of a month, most of these side effects will have significantly resolved.
Brazilian Butt Lift Results
Most Brazilian butt lift patients are pleased by the results that are achieved. Some fat reabsorption may occur, though this is natural and the body harmlessly reintegrates the fat into your system. The remaining fat that's been transferred will give the patient round, shapely buttocks that look and feel natural.
